Apple: The front camera of the Apple iPhone 14 could cost three times that of the iPhone 13

Apple iphone 14 The series is scheduled to be unveiled in September 2022 and the rumor mill is buzzing about four smartphones to be released under this series. According to a new report by AppleInsider, the upcoming iPhone 14 series smartphone is expected to feature a high-end selfie camera that could also have built-in autofocus. The report also claims that these new ‘high-end’ selfie cameras will be assembled in South Korea and will cost three times more than the front-facing cameras found in the previous iPhone series.
Reasons to change selfie camera
The report also mentioned that the Cupertino-based tech giant has severed ties with its Chinese supply chain partner. Apple South Korean company has decided on LG Innotek As per the report, to develop a new front-facing camera. Quality concerns about Chinese suppliers and Apple classifying the front-facing camera as a “high-end” component rather than a “low-end” have led to this change.
Previously, Apple had planned to use LG Innotek as a supplier for the iPhone 15 models to be released in 2023. However, it seems that the company has postponed its plans till 2022.
New iPhone Front-Facing Camera Expected Features
Earlier, reports from various media outlets and analysts, including Ming-Chis Ku Suggested changes to the front-facing cameras in the upcoming iPhone 14 model. This new report confirms these rumors about the iPhone 14’s advanced front camera with autofocus for advanced FaceTime calls and selfies.
Kuo also suggested that the upgraded selfie cameras could also have a wider aperture which the upcoming iPhone models are expected to provide better Picture mode capabilities. Kuo also claimed that all four iPhone 14 models will get an upgraded front camera, however, the new report does not mention any such thing.
