Digilocker: Digilocker services come to WhatsApp via MyGov Helpdesk: What it means for you

digital locker Services are coming to WhatsApp. In an initiative to make government services accessible, the government has announced that citizens will now be able to access my government Helpdesk on WhatsApp for using Digilocker service. This includes creating and authenticating DigiLocker account, downloading documents like PAN card, driving license, vehicle registration certificate and much more on WhatsApp. For the unaware, DigiLocker allows Indian citizens to access their original documents anytime, anywhere. The validity of the documents stored in DigiLocker is same as the original. It also helps in providing a verification module that enables government agencies to verify data directly from issuers after obtaining user consent.
What is MyGov Helpdesk
MyGov Helpdesk is Government of India’s online chatbot/helpdesk for public services on WhatsApp. It was launched in March 2020 and was known as MyGov Corona Helpdesk on WhatsApp). It helped users to book vaccine appointments and download vaccine certificates. Later the government changed the name to reflect its usefulness beyond Corona. With new additions like DigiLocker, MyGov chatbot on WhatsApp aims to build a comprehensive administrative support system for citizens to access resources and essential services that are digitally inclusive.
What Services Will MyGov Helpdesk Offer on WhatsApp
With the MyGov helpdesk coming to WhatsApp, the service will enable citizens to access the following documents:
Pan Card
driving license
CBSE Class X Passing Certificate
Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC)
Insurance Policy – Two Wheeler
10th class mark sheet
Marksheet of class XII
Insurance policy documents (life and non-life available on Digilocker)
How to use MyGov Helpdesk on WhatsApp
WhatsApp users across the country on the number +91 9013151515. To begin, save the number +91 9013151515 to your WhatsApp contacts. Once done, users can access the chatbot by sending ‘Namaste’ or ‘Hi’ or ‘Digilocker’ to this number on WhatsApp. The interface will show two options: Coin Services and Digilocker Services.
When a user selects the DigiLocker option, it will be authenticated with his/her Aadhaar and an OTP. Once authenticated, it will inform the user about the documents available in DigiLocker. Users can access any document in DigiLocker after sharing the mobile number to which the document belongs. An OTP will be sent to the same mobile number, once authenticated the citizen will be able to download the document.
