Voter list supervisor of Salem district V. Shobhana reviewed and reviewed the progress of special brief revision camps at polling stations here on Saturday.
Ms. Shobhana along with senior officials visited the review camps set up at Shree Sharda Vidyalaya Girls Higher Secondary School, Cluny Girls Higher Secondary School and Kottai Government Girls Higher Secondary School and took stock of the progress of the revision process. District Revenue Officer V. Alwin Sanuja, Salem Corporation Commissioner T. Kristuraj and other senior officers were present.
In a release, Ms. Shobhana said that on Saturday, special revision camps were organized at 1,216 centers in the district and the public can also apply through the website. www.nvsp.in and voter helpline number to make necessary edits or add or delete names from the list. He said that the final voter list would be released on January 5. So far 36,786 applications have been received for addition, deletion, change of address and correction in the district.
District Collector Shreya P. Singh reviewed the progress of the camps in Namakkal. He visited the camp at Ulakapampalayam Government Higher Secondary School. Ms Singh along with Superintendent of Police Saroj Kumar Thakur later visited educational institutions where counting centers would be set up for the Ubaran local body elections.
According to a release, urban local body elections will be held for five municipalities and 19 nagar panchayats in the district. There are total 447 wards in local bodies. The officials visited Arignayar Anna Government Arts College in Namakkal, SRV Boys Higher Secondary School in Rasipuram and Vivekananda Women’s Engineering College in Tiruchengode and reviewed the facilities of the strong room and counting hall.
