Mediatek: Mediatek Dimensity 1050 announced: Here’s what makes it different from the company’s other SoCs

mediatek has announced its new chipset under Dimensions Make a line The chipmaker has unveiled its latest – Dimension 1050 Chip globally. The company’s new chip supports mmWave 5G along with sub-6GHz 5G. It is an octa-core chip made by using TSMC6nm processor.
How is the Dimension 1050 different from MediaTek’s other 5G chips?
The Dimensity 1050 is MediaTek’s first system-on-chip (SoC) to support sub-6GHz 5G with mmWave 5G support. Prior to this, all MediaTek 5G SoCs had only slightly slower Sub-6GHz 5G support.
The company has also confirmed that the chip will offer auto-switching to provide seamless connectivity between mmWave and slower sub-6GHz 5G.
For those who don’t know, mmWave is the latest and fastest standard of 5G networks that can deliver speeds in gigabytes. However, it is limited in terms of coverage and reach. Sub-6GHz, on the other hand, is a bit slower than mmWave, but has better coverage. To fill that gap, chip makers typically implement both mmWave and Sub-6GHz on their chips to offer seamless 5G connectivity.
In addition, the Dimensity 1050 also comes with Wi-Fi 6e support which will help users get better Wi-Fi connectivity on the chip-powered smartphone.
As of now, there is no information available on the smartphones that will be powered by the new chip. However, MediaTek has confirmed that the Dimensity 1050-powered Dimensity 1050 will start arriving in the smartphone market by Q3, 2022.
