Samsung: Samsung to lead premium smartphone market in India with 38% share in March 2022: Report

samsung has reportedly created a ‘record’ in the premium smartphone segment in India with its Galaxy S22 series. according to this Counterpoint ResearchThe success of the Galaxy S22 series helped Samsung India As per the report, it emerged as the No. 1 smartphone maker in the premium segment (above Rs.30,000) with 38% volume market share in March, 2022. Samsung’s volume market share in the super premium segment (over Rs 100,000) stood at 81% in March 2022, driven by the success of the Galaxy S22 Ultra in India. It was up 63% during the full first quarter of the year (Q1 2022), up from 55 during the same quarter of 2021 (Q1-2021).
The report further stated that the company’s top-end smartphone in the S22 series – Galaxy S22 Ultra – reached the pole position in the 100,000+ category with 74% volume market share in March 2022. Samsung also tops the smartphone market. India with 22% volume market share and 27% value market share in March 2022 as per data.
“The Galaxy S22 series has had a great debut in India, especially for the Galaxy S22 Ultra which combines Note features with the S-series. As a result, demand was driven not only by the strong installed base of previous S Series users but also from Note users. Samsung has now picked up a momentum in the premium segment as our channel checks continue to indicate strong demand in Q2 as well,” it said. Tarun PathakDirector of Research, Counterpoint Research.
“We have achieved a record milestone of 22 percent volume market share in the over 100K segment with our epic Galaxy S7 Ultra. Our success was due to our ‘3E strategy’ which focused on expansion, experience and extraction to win over the hearts of Indian consumers. We have grown our core retail footprint to enable consumers to experience our devices not only in metro cities but also in Tier 1 and smaller cities. We built platforms to enable consumers to shop like never before with Samsung Upgrade and Samsung Finance+, which fueled our growth in metro and even more in non-metro cities,” said. Samsung is said to have consolidated its position in the smartwatch and tablet segment during the month itself. As per syndicated data, Samsung had 73% volume market share in smartwatch market and 47% volume market share in tablet business in the month of March 2022.
