New Delhi: Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp announced that the long-awaited message response functionality is now available for all users. Apart from this, WhatsApp will get many other much-awaited features, such as increased file sharing size and option to add additional members to WhatsApp groups.
WhatsApp’s message reaction feature has apparently been in development for a few months now. Previously only a few emoji reactions were to be included, but more will be added in the future. Users can visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to check for updates. Currently, it hasn’t rolled out to Android users in India but it is expected to appear in the coming days. Other platforms, such as Instagram DM, Slack, Twitter, and others have similar message response features.
In addition to emoji reactions, WhatsApp is also increasing the maximum file size that can be shared on the app to 2GB, which is a significant increase from the current limit of 100MB. Also, the number of people you can add to a WhatsApp group has been doubled. In a blog post, the company said that it is “gradually” increasing the number of people who can be added to WhatsApp groups. After the upgrade, users will be able to add up to 512 people to the group. This comes after the Meta-owned instant messaging app introduced the Communities feature.
According to the WhatsApp blog, “Building a private, safe and secure community takes work, and we believe this series of enhancements will help people and groups stay connected.”
“We are thrilled to announce that Emoji Reactions are now available in the current version of the app; Reactions are fun, quick and support groups that help avoid overload; We will continue to enhance them by offering a wider range of expressions in the future.” . , “says the company,” WhatsApp said in a blog post.
The company also claims that 2GB of files will be end-to-end secure, and advises users to use Wi-Fi when exchanging large files on WhatsApp.
