WhatsApp users may soon get this disappearing new message feature

WhatsApp Is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow you to use the disappearing messages feature for multiple simultaneous chats. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the Facebook-owned platform has started rolling out a new beta update for Android smartphone users. The update brings the version of the app to 2.22.11.11 and it also comes with references to the new disappearing messages functionality.
For those who do not know, WhatsApp introduced the disappearing messages feature last year. This feature allows users to send messages that disappear after a certain period of time. At first the app only gave an option to automatically delete a message that disappeared after 7 days. Later the company also added 90 days and 24 hours options for the feature.
Currently when you enable the default message timer, it only affects new individual chats but the company is now working on a new option for your existing chats. As per the screenshot shared with the report, along with the Spotted feature, WhatsApp will allow you to access the disappearing messages feature through a new shortcut that will appear when you select multiple chats from the list.
With this feature, you don’t have to manually turn on the disappearing messages feature within each chat info. Since this feature is still in the early stages of development, it is unknown when the company will roll it out to the users. In addition, WhatsApp is also planning to expand the functionality of the multi-device feature with a new companion mode.
Companion Mode will allow users to link their primary smartphone with the WhatsApp account of another smartphone. However, switching to Companion Mode will log you out of your WhatsApp account on your primary device. Since this feature is currently under development, not much details are available on how this feature is different from registering the app in another smartphone. The feature can also help users migrate from Android to iOS smartphones.
